Kirstenbosch Summer Concerts

Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens regularly hosts the Old Mutual Summer Sunset concert series on Sunday evenings.  When we heard Freshlyground and the Cape Town Philharmonic were playing a this year, we immediately bought tickets. What really makes a concert at Kirstenbosch special is the setting.  If there is a long queue to get into the concert area, it’s the perfect excuse to wander and see more of the gardens (entrance is included, and a steal, with the concert ticket price ranging from 99ZAR to 75ZAR and regular entrance at 89ZAR).  Once the gates open, the hillside becomes a sea of picnic blankets and a chorus of popping corks is audible (Capetonians love their wine!)  I can’t think of a more relaxing way to spend a Sunday afternoon and I look forward to next year’s series.
